Posted on YouTube on December 22, this video is an example of the whining going on in NYC. What are they planning now?

I can't believe this. It's edited to really make the pedicabs look they are stealing the taxi's fares. Hmmmm, Maybe it's because NY has 350 more taxis on the road......and people hate riding in the smelly dirty cabs

Dear Mr Anon Omous,
I think it's more like 900 more cabs in New York. They are doing some kind of new math. It's not the 900 more "Yellowcabs" making it harder its the "200" pedicabs (never is all the pedicabs out). Those peddlers in New York must be studs or studettes (is that possible?) taking people to the airports and across the bridges (I don't think there is but a few with electic assist). The Cabbies are so full of crap, they don't even like taking the short fares that the peddlers take. Have you ever been in a New York "Yellow" no wonder people hate them. Lets outlaw cars and clean up the city from the rude crazy driving "Yellow Cabbies". I'm sure the buggie whip union was pissed when the first Cabbies came to the Big Apple.

Why doesn't the city of NY require all motorized passenger carrying vehicles to be zero emmissions? A realistic timetable would allow for a graduall transistion, easing any financial hardships to owners. The city could offer economic incentives Eventually, the zero emmision standad might apply to other vehicles, such as FedEx, UPS, and othe fleet operators that ply their trade in the city. Air pollution is a real health hazzard.
Taxis are regulated with regard to limitation and desimination of medallions base upon findings of public convenience and necessity, not safety, health and wefare. Apparently, alternate forms of transportation are working, so maybe it's time for the city to rethink what's really convienent and necessary for the traveling public.
Absolutley, pedicabs need regulations such as evidence of financial resposibilty. To suggest that a pedicab's right to use city streets is less than that of a taxicab because pedicabs cost less to operate, is not only absurd, but totally contrary to free market supply and demand in which the consumer benfits.
